Free Spirit Spanish Mustangs My passion for mustangs and the "wild" look began as a child growing up on the farm in southwestern Minnesota. I guess my destiny began when I was about 2 years old. My mother always enjoys telling the story of how my dad had just brought a load of wild horses back from South Dakota. I was supposed to be out in the yard playing, but when she looked out to check on me, there I was in the barnyard standing in the middle of all those horses. Perhaps the horse is my medicine animal, for somehow I survived without being trampled. After reading Marguerite Henry's "San Domingo, The Medicine Hat Stallion", Robin, my daughter, became interested in Spanish Mustangs and started dreaming of owning one. One day we ran into Kim Kingsley, a breeder from Breien, ND, who just happened to have a couple of weanlings along with him. Of course, Robin talked me into buying one and she bought the other - and that was the start of our Spanish Mustang herd. Now, a few years later, our herd has grown and Robin has realized another of her dreams - she now owns a medicine hat stallion, Blue Diamond Domingo, who is in fact a grandson of that famous horse in Henry's book. |
